Aromatherapy is a type of alternative medicine that gets your physical and mental being into balance with each other. It is, in fact, one of the world’s most widely used aromatics – for it’s scent in perfumery, for it’s therapeutic effects in Chinese, Ayurvedic and Tibetan medicine systems, and for it’s ability to center the mind in meditative yogic traditions. One way would be to apply scented essential oil to the skin.

This process yields two products – the essential oil (contains oil soluble products) and hydrosol (containing water-soluble products). There are essential oil aromatherapy heaters you can use in your home to give it a great smell and to benefit from the scents in the air.

Expression is more popularly used in extracting essential oils from citrus fruits. It is used by yogis in the East and West to bring stillness in meditation – a serene mental state unifying consciousness of the body, mind and spirit. Lavender has been used for stress reduction for hundreds of years and is a pleasant scent.

They can also learn the right amounts to use so they get the most benefits. Apart from research that shows essential oils do have an effect on the mind-relaxing or stimulating-there is no substantiated evidence of their effects on individual emotions. Aromatherapy is practised all over the world by Homeopathic, Ayurvedic, Chinese medicine, Herbal medicine and Naturopathy practitioners.

Don’t be discouraged, there are many other types of aromatherapy candles available. The pain of a period can be worse when we are feeling particularly emotional or stressed, or when we are also experiencing pain from other causes. Aromatherapy offers many benefits in this area including preventative, healing, and recovery.
